Uniquely designed, the retractable Steve Gadd Wire Brushes are easily distinguishable because of the bent wires - each wire is slightly angled up about a half inch away from the tip, allowing the bent section to lie flat on the drum head.

This is helpful in several ways: it adds surface area to the brush sound without having to push the brushes down onto the head (giving you a velvety stroke without much effort), and it keeps the brush tips from sticking to coated heads. That Steve Gadd is a pretty smart fella.
