Steve Smith returns to Manila for Sonor Drums

Legendary drummer Steve Smith returned to Manila on December 12, 2008 for the final leg of his World Clinic Tour for Sonor Drums. The drum show cum clinic was held at the Marian Auditorium of Miriam College in Quezon City with hundreds in attendance. Steve used his 30th Anniversary Kit No. 11, made by the fabled drum manufacturer that has the specifications Steve prefers for his playing.

Steve Smith was voted #1 All-Around Drummer five years in a row by readers of Modern Drummer Magazine. In 2001, he was also named as one of the Top 25 Drummers of All Time and in the following year, was voted into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame. He has worked with other excellent musicians such as Allan Holdsworth, Michael Brecker, Mike Stern, Bill Evans, Anthony Jackson, Tom Coster, Frank Gambale, Victor Wooten, Scott Henderson, just to name a few. For the uniniated, he is best known as the former drummer of the rock band, Journey.


His fans in the Philippines who bought Zildjian cymbals or Sonor drums were treated to complimentary tickets. Steve endorses Zildjian cymbals, Sonor drums, and Remo drumheads, all exclusively available at JB Music stores. JB Music’s Jerico Fernando, Vice-President, and Bel Sayson, Marketing Manager, were likewise present to grace the event.
